business affecting this

private interview, when His Majesty thanked me in grasious terms for my hospitality to the Japanese

Princes, Ministers, Admirals,

Generals, and other high officers, who frequently visit Hongkong and

are always entertained at the Government Bouse.

is analogous to the title of Sublime Porte given to the Sultan at Constantinople.
